Winding Roads

Sonya Fox, M.S., Life Coach

Sonya has a passion for helping individuals and families write (or re-write) the story of their journey in a way that positively impacts the legacy of family trees. She provides an open, judgement-free setting to offer support with grief, anxiety, women’s issues, exploring spiritual beliefs and challenges, life transitions, and a primary focus in couples therapy and blended family systems.

Her transition into adulthood became an unhealthy byproduct of learned behavior from her own family of origin. Being grounded in her faith, she knew when she and her husband married navigating a healthy, blended family would require learning to do things differently.  This meant building effective co-parenting skills and healthy interactions. Sonya brings an existential, holistic approach to helping others navigate difficult challenges while finding solutions. She passionately believes that although we may not be able to control our circumstances, we do get to choose how we respond. She desires to meet individuals and families where they are in the reality of their present and journey with them to see the hope of their future.

Sonya has an extensive healthcare background that has allowed her to work with individuals and families from diverse cultural backgrounds in various settings including the neonatal ICU, trauma ICU, an international boarding school and most recently as a family advocate for organ procurement and transplant services.  She earned her Bachelor of Science from Midwestern State University and holds a Master of Science in Family and Community Services from Oklahoma State University and a Master of Science in Counseling and Development from Texas Woman’s University.  In addition to facilitating groups and working with women in non-profit agencies, she served clients in the private practice setting during her clinical internship.

After serving alongside her husband in youth and women’s ministry for many years, they stepped down in 2020 and relocated to Waxahachie.

When not working, the two of them enjoy going on cruises and cheering on their favorite college football team. No matter the season, Sonya believes each day is an opportunity to leave others better than we found them.  Dr. Tony Evans once said, “God does not hold us at the point of our greatest defeat so why should we?”
